8 – Dear STEADTLER Mars Plastic eraser…

by Kory M on April 23, 2009

Dear STEADTLER Mars Plastic eraser,

What does the “Mars” in you name mean? Are you from Mars? Is it a marketing piggy back on such delicious chocolate bars as  the “Mars Bar”? Is it German for “very white and soft”? That would make sense, the very white and soft Plastic eraser from STEADTLER.

On your top side you tell me often that you are “for paper and film,” in 4 languages, nevertheless I have never had film to erase! You create nasty eraser bits all over my work space, but only when I make a lot of mistakes, so I blame that on myself. You are made in Germany, I like that.

Sincerely Yours, Kory

They are only white and soft in their infancy. As they age they grow jadded and hard. Also a muddy grey tone from being in ones pencil case.
This is something I have noticed, perhaps we might consider and elongated childhood.

Ahhh another sad truth that I no longer realize due to my insistence of avoiding pencil cases. I think that an elongated childhood is beneficial for people and erasers. If you learn lessons when you make mistakes and make the most mistakes when you are young, then it follows that we could be a lot smarter if we were younger longer.
