I recently installed Thesis 1.6 by Chris Pearson. It is the epitome of a useful blogging theme. The theme is easily customizable, fast, clean, simple, easily integrable with popular plugins, it also provides a large support network, extremely effective search engine optimization, and a smart development team which I am confident in to continue updating and creating a new standard in blogging platforms.

The upgrade process was not all painless. After attempting to simply upgrade to the Thesis theme I had some minor errors in the Thesis Options page, and some security concerns. I eventually had to backup my database, reinstall WordPress 2.8.6, then install the theme. Which was acutally a good thing in retrospect. I was able to clean out my plugin mess, and it gave me a chance to experience a fresh install, something that will provide some help if things ever get corrupted in the future.
Further more I installed a few plugins: Disqus (thanks to mattflies), flickrRSS, Google XML Sitemaps, WordPress.com Stats, WP Super Cache and WPtouch iPhone Theme.

Hey Kory, I dig the look, nicely done!
Thanks Mack, Thesis is very fun, one day I will be able to build from scratch, but until then, I can build it from Thesis.
