University of Alberta on Youtube

by Kory M on December 16, 2009

I was interested in what type of videos were coming out of the University of Alberta on Youtube after seeing TVMcGill and some of the amazing work over there.  The U of A does have it’s own Youtube page, which is jam packed with great videos  has about 47 videos, the majority of which have under 1000 views, the most popular one with only 12000. And I do not think that is saying much because my own most popular video has about that many views as well. I was able to find a few producers connected to the University, and some of the most popular videos that include, have some reference to, or are produced by someone at the University of Alberta, do you know any other stars?

Some of the most popular videos from the University of Alberta are:

It seems like the best, most popular videos are students actively synthesizing the lessons from the class room into creative, constructive videos, that serve to educate and entertain. There is some content on Youtube that includes some connection to the University of Alberta. But, it seems clear that there is not as much popular content as is coming out of other schools.

Hopefully the University will start producing some great, student centered content, that will really appeal to a broad network and help to communicate about the amazing school. And who knows, maybe they will even ask me to help produce? Only time will tell…

Hey Kory, it ain’t much, I’ll admit, but my silly 16-second video of the motorized couch driving on the sidewalk next to the Phys Ed Bldg has had >9,640 views. :-)
