by Kory M on December 31, 2009

“Edmonton Olympic Torch Relay Celebration January 13, 2010 – It’s your opportunity to celebrate our Olympic Athletes.

  • Paint the Town RedCheer on the torch – line the torch relay route. Official torch relay route will be announced on December 30 is public, visit www.edmonton.ca/torchrelay for details, or download the route.
  • Join the celebration – attend the City Hall and Churchill Square community celebration from 4-8pm.
  • Demonstrate your support for the event – decorate red and wear red.”

According to the City of Edmonton Website “lots of amazing local artists will take place in the City Hall celebrations” including: friends from The Varscona…Peter Brown, Stewart Lemoine, Jeff Haslam, Davina Stewart, Cathy Derkach, Dana Anderson, Donovan Workun, as well as The Bea Arthurs, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Zero Gravity Circus, Firefly Theatre and Cadence Weapon.

I have also heard rumors that Michael Kennard will be clowning downtown with my wonderful and talented girlfriend Qelsey Zeeper.

According to the Edmonton Journal:

It’s the longest torch run through a single country in Olympic history …a 45,000-kilometre odyssey fuelled by hopes and dreams. More than 12,000 torchbearers will carry the metre-long torch on the 106 day-trek though nearly 1,000 communities until it ignites the Olympic flame at the 2010 Games in Vancouver on Feb. 12.
